Physical Activity/Wellness General Education Requirement All undergraduate students are required to fulfill a two-credit physical activity/wellness requirement as part of the General Education requirement. Most of these credits will be taken in the Department of Health and Physical Education, but other departments have courses that will satisfy either the physical activity or the wellness components of the requirement.
General Information Most of Health and Physical Education's one-credit activity-based courses are offered on o co-ed basis and most are graded Pass/Fail. All non-activity courses are offered on a co-ed basis and most are letter-graded. Students should note the location of the course when they register (East Gym or West Gym). Both gymnasia are co-ed facilities. Health and Physical Education courses have either a course code of HPE or HPEY; be sure to consult both listings in the Schedule of Classes. Fees There is a required fee for all students registered for Health and Physical Education courses. This is non-refundable once classes begin. The fee entitles students to lockers and a towel service, whether or not they opt to use them. Some courses, such as snowboarding, skiing, horseback riding, bowling, scuba and all Outdoor Pursuits courses have an extra fee for equipment, transportation and instruction.
