Immediate Release: June 28, 2006 VESTAL, N.Y. - Binghamton University's 374 student-athletes have continued their academic success with a 3.0 grade-point average for the spring semester, the department announced today. It marked the 12th time in the last 16 semesters that the student-athlete body has achieved the 3.0 plateau. Nearly 60% of the athletes earned a 3.0 or higher GPA (221) for the spring semester. Among that group, 100 individuals maintained a GPA of 3.5 or higher (27%). Ten student-athletes, representing eight different teams, achieved a perfect 4.0 for the spring. Since elevating to Division I competition in fall 2001, BU student-athletes have reached the 3.0 mark in seven of 10 semesters. In addition, more than 200 athletes received academic recognition through the America East Conference or their individual sports associations during the 2005-06 year. |
